Life Update: Old Diaries and Rusty Pens

Some of you know that I work at a school as a substitute… okay, I can’t wait– I’ll open up with the good news, I will have my own classroom in August!

Holidays, summers, and winters off is a pretty sweet deal! It’s as close to stay-at-home-mom I can get, which just tickles me pink. It is 2020 so I have been home for awhile, first, due to virus that will go unnamed and now, due to summer. As I mentioned before, I was staying busy with crafts and projects around the house.

The creative crafty projects have slowed down as part of life’s natural ebb and flow. My priority has actually shifted toward health and well-being as I have not been feeling my best lately. I am now going on somewhat of a health journey for both myself and my daughter; I will share along the way as things come together. (That’s the not so good news). Your prayers for healing are welcomed and cherished!

Because of the low energy, I feel like my pen is rusty. Both my writing and drawing pen are rusty. But I must do…something! Haha, I will always finding something to do.

What I’ve been doing these past two weeks:
Moving things around. Reorganizing files. Hanging photos. ON THE BLOG! I have been fixer-upping the Mama Equis website because I hope for this cyber-place to be a community for women and mothers of all ages to laugh, cry, share and learn together! Yes, men friends, you are loved and still welcome.

I have a huge vision for Mama Equis as a brand and Harvesting Hope as a blog. I am a dreamer, what can I say? However, in times of exhaustion, one is easily discouraged. Discouragement can become the point of defeat if we choose hopelessness.

Why am I letting myself get down? David’s words:

Psalm 42:5

Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

PUT YOUR HOPE IN GOD! My story won’t end there. The whole reason I write and send my words into the web is because I have hope!

I maintain my dreams because I am strengthened by God and not by my discouragement-prone self. Shuffling website widgets to make visual sense was one way to cheer me up. In this project, I re-met many old blog posts that remind me why I write and why I am in the online space trying to make hope be known. The hope of JESUS, let’s be clear.

Here are eight posts that soothed my soul and prepared me to persevere:

2020 Vision ~ It’s always good to revisit your goals.
Is it Love ~ A very adorable painting that I may recreate soon *hint hint.*
How to Find Inspiration ~ The FIRST segment of Flourising Friday and the sentiments that fuel inspiration.
Expensive Gifts ~ On judging what we do for the Lord.
Leaders and Followers ~ Why leadership is overrated.
Resetting/Restarting ~ For when you want to give up.
Patience My Friend ~ Title says it all!
Revolutionary ~ Relevant this year as it was last year and will be next year.

When your pen is rusty, it might be a good time to read rather than write. And that’s why it’s always a good idea to keep your old diaries! To remember the moments of spark that began the creation of a new venture. To remember your “why.”

Do you carry your “why” around?

With love,
Mama X

Flourishing Friday post #12, last one here. These Friday posts are about reflection, creativity, and inspiration. Occasionally, I will share my own expressions through art here and on social media. InstagramFacebook.

  1. The whole reason I write and send out these words is because I have Hope- that sentence stood out to me.
I have hope too that these words of mine reach a soul, encourage, inspire and point to Jesus.
